Leaving work I pass by a couple of schools and all of them had this similar site.  Elementary and middle schools have what is called field day. Sometime, during the last weeks of school, the schools send a very large percentage of the student population out to the fields and let them run wild in public.  It’s a celebratory right of passage. It is also one of the biggest reasons why I do not teach elementary or middle school.
