Day 148 – May 28, 2018

Ceremony – DWP

It is here.  It is really unbelievable how fast it has gotten here. But in 4 days the my youngest will graduate from high school. And it’s terrifying.  I am not sure she has really even started to feel the implications of this whole ceremony, but I know I have.  Because after Friday, I venture where I have not been in over 22 years.  After Friday the effects of empty nest syndrome begin.  I have only heard tales of what happens and while some sound really intriguing there are a few that scare the shit out of me.  It is absolutely crazy to go back and try to imagine what life was like before kids.  In fact I am pretty sure I can only assume, with the help of visual aids (photos), vaguely what that was like.  They say it gets easier as the kids get older, and I can unequivocally disagree.  But would I change anything if I could do it again? Aside from a few misdirections and a couple of shortfalls, absolutely not.  So while these 4 days are going to fly by for me, if I remember correctly, they will be the longest days of my daughters life.  Except maybe the few days before her wedding, but let’s not even begin to think of that day.
