A quick recap. For those of you who didn’t know, I am a teacher. I taught high school theatre for the past 21 years and this year I made a huge change and went to work at the Career and Technology school as the graphic designer teacher. It is a big change, huge, and while there are days that I feel my life is in arrears, where I wonder wtf was I thinking, I do love working at this school. There are so many positives, so much less stress (well there will be once I am a little more comfortable) and so much more free time as I leave at the end of the day and have absolutely no responsibilities after school! It has been nice. I find the change in environment very suitable. So today the school held its first signing day. This is much like the day where high school athletes declare what school they will be going to, but instead of school the kids today were signing letters of intent to being hired full time once they have graduated later this month. It was really cool to have these businesses come to celebrate their new hires and demonstrate that if college isn’t for you, there are options. There are so many different paths one can take, they just may need a little encouraging. So it was a nice ceremony to see. Of course, it was the luscious donuts offered afterwards, that was the bribing factor to get my kids to go.
