Little Too Late

Day 301 – October 28, 2019

Alien – VJ’s Weekly / Regular – FOWC / Mend – RDP / Jagged – WODC / Forest Lines – October Lined Squares

Not sure what happened, but I found the little guy with the help of Anastasia as she was really upset about something in the weeds.  From a distance it was quite Alien, but as I got closer I realized it was just a regular young groundhog.  It must have been in a fight because it certainly wasn’t doing well.  There was jagged claw, or bite mark on its backside and though I was willing to try and provide a place to mend, the whole ordeal must have been worse than I thought because it died before I had a chance to figure out what it was, or what was even wrong.  I am such a sap for things like this, especially young defenseless animals and I certainly feel like I failed this poor thing.  At least I can say that it died in a warm blanket instead of in a patch of weeds and it’s in a box, safe from scavengers, below the permafrost.

    1. I don’t know why that stuff bothers me so much. It’s the chain. But I think it’s because of eyes. Doesn’t matter what thing it is if it has eyes it can see you it has feelings and you can just see past that outside and look right in to their vulnerability.
