Come To My Window

Day 296 – October 23, 2019

Character – Weekly Prompts Word / Manual – FOWC / Blast – RDP / Almost – WODC / Day 23 – October Lined Squares

I really like Halloween decorations.  I know I have said it before, but sometimes it is a bummer that I live where I do, as it is not as much of a blast to decorate as it would be if I lived in a community.  Trade-offs.  I do end up decorating my classroom a bit more, and I enjoy driving around to see others displays.  Especially as it is almost Halloween. This display was in one of the town close-by.  I really was a bit mesmerized by it because of its character and it really had depth and almost a 3D, shadow box, feel to it.  If I did something like this, I would definitely need a manual to put it together.  And seeing as it is a display for the town florist, I would say they had a bit of advantage.

          2. This makes 1 9×5 loaf :
            Preheat Oven to 350
Sift together: 1 3/4Cup sifted all purpose flour
            ¼ tsp Baking Powder
            1 tsp Baking Soda
            1 tsp Salt
            ½ tsp Cinnamon
            ¼ tsp Ground Cloves

In Large Bowl, beat until Light and Fluffy:
            1 ⅓ Cup Sugar
            ⅓ Cup Shortening
            2 Eggs
            And then beat in:
            1 Cup Pumpkin

Add Dry Ingredients 1/3rd at a time alternating with:
⅓ Cup Milk (or water) I actually use Buttermilk!
            ½ tsp Vanilla

Do not overbeat in between each addition!
At this point you can fold in Nuts, Dates, Raisins, etc. I personally don’t like any of that so I will keep it out. I have added chocolate chips about ½ the time and really like that…

Pour batter into a greased pan and bake about 1 hour.
(When I take it out of the oven I usually remove it from the pan as soon as I can hold the pan without burning fingers and put on a wire rack to cool the rest of the way…

ENJOY! Let me know how it goes!
