The 3 stages of this little garden were taken over the last couple of months and I actually used versions of two of them in other posts.  Those of you may remember that on a whim I decided to toss some old seed onto the ground and if it worked it worked if not, at least I gave it a chance.  Slowly, but surely these little flowers started to emerge from this jumble of grass and weeds.  I thought, at the time of the third photo, that they were in for it now, as the deer would surely show it who is queen and wipe them out.  They kept upbeat through the rain, the heat and the nectar feeding insects. And low and behold if they hadn’t exceeded any and all expectation to make it to where they are today.  Talk about pleasant surprises.  I just can’t let it go to my head. (Not even the mention of your word VJ! 😛)
