(Just Like) Crabs In A Barrel

Day 229 – August 17, 2019

With the end of summer just around the corner it hit me that no crabs had been consumed, at all.  I am not sure what made me think of it.  I suppose I knew the eventually I would get to it, but this is as late as I have gone without having any.  So when I went to the store afternoon, I saw a sign advertising that they had them available today.  And when I went to the seafood department, I caught a glimpse of one, batting its eyes at me, flirting with me.  So I took the plunge and took them home to have a good old end of summer crab dump with all sorts of things but hi-lighted by the Maryland blue crab.  It was so worth the wait.  I need to go back to my food coma.  See you on the other side!

  1. Would love to eat those.
Once when spending a summer on the island of Jersey (Channel Islands) we sailed across to France to have the best seafood lunch ever. There were so many courses that lunch lasted the whole of the afternoon. Sadly I recently developed a seafood allergy so no more crab for me!

  2. I love Chesapeake blue crabs. So delicious. I live in San Francisco and we have Dungeness crabs here. They are good, but not as good as blues. So several times a year I have a dozen jumbo Maryland blues shipped here overnight. Mmm.
