Day 53 (418) – February 22, 2019

It’s Friday! And even though there were only 2 ½ days of class this week, It sure as heck didn’t feel like it.  It felt twice as long.  And it’s not like the kids were bad, I think it was that they were high maintenance. So much more than usual.  I think it may be that they were not willing to commit that much effort when so much time was missed this past week. And of course I never like to start something new on a Friday so it left me scrambling.  Once the day ended, I went to one of the many stopping points there are for teachers, on a Friday. The one featured just so happens to be one of my favorite establishments.  In fact, I think this place opens an hour early just because they want to catch us once school has let out.  Most of us would probably just give up, head to the beer mart instead of waiting that hour.  Give me the additional security of an adult beverage of choice, a couch, a pair of baggy sweats, a bowl with a combination of  popcorn, M&M’s, pretzels sticks and frosted cheerios, and Netflix, of course, any Friday after a week of school. Beats the snot out of paying for a finite amount of over-priced domestics, in a place where shell-on peanuts is the only food, and the decibel levels require conversation to be amped all while leaning in as close as comfortable just to hear them.  Granted it’s not nearly as loud as that right after school, but give it a couple more hours and it’s time to go. Still it is one of the best ways to start the weekend off on the right (rabbits) foot.
