Day 346 – December 12, 2018
Purposeful – Weekly Photo / Glamorous – Weekly Prompts Word Prompt / #7 – Wordless Wednesday / Camera – FOWC / Coterie – RDP / Stimulating – WODC / 12 – December Photo a Day / Day 12 – December Squares
in response to Wordless Wednesday…
This is the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. It stands right next to the National Fallen Fire Fighters Monument in Northern Maryland. It is a beautiful and glamorous basilica/museum/retreat. I won’t go through all the amazing details about the history of this place, because there is an awful lot, but if you are so inclined just follow this link. As if the area isn’t already full of magnificent history, this is yet another opportunity to take a tour and meet a coterie of people who share your interests. The grounds are a great way to escape all the over-stimulating, fast-paced aspects of life and find inner peace and solace in order to reclaim control and, well, sanity. I actually ended up turning in when I caught a glimpse of a line of glass containers. I followed them in, and realized what it was. The problem was that I was too early, so I will be going back with my camera to capture, what I do believe will be, a magnificent and magical display. It’s really a rather unsettling realization to find, as you are sitting in the middle of this meditative inducing ground, how much you do get caught up in that web of every day life. The things we lose sight of, and the time we waste on mundane tasks and unnecessary drama, really are put back into perspective without realizing that you are doing it. I didn’t realize how much I really needed the few minutes of peaceful solitude to refocus and refresh. It was invigorating. You don’t even have to be religious to find your own place to quiet your brain for a few minutes. It just happens. I highly recommend it. Make this Thursday count. I hope the best, coolest shit you dream about, comes true.
Greetings Friend!

So peaceful. There is a highway just beyond, yet you cannot hear anything. Its like there is a dome over the entire area.
