On this Labor (US) Labour (Canada) Day, I enjoyed some time downtown before becoming completely overwhelmed by the heat and humidity. With the creek just a couple of blocks down, temptation to take a quick plunge was great. Knowing how much the city loathes anyone who threatens to damage the water plants, I thought better as I did not want to ruin this relaxing weekend with a volatile act. Heading back to the car, in the parking garage, I wanted to pass by the Cellar Door Restaurant before departing. The restaurant, which serves as the foundation of the shop above, is one of the number of music venues in the two block radius. The lounge is more of an intimate setting, suitable to more of an acoustic performance. The gastropub is said to have set the foundation for the comedy/ karaoke bar scene in the city. I love the center piece of the metal rails and how the color of the pelican, or pink flamingo (for the sake of #inthepink 😬), compliment the brick background. The circle within the squares draw the eye right to the sculpture. But don’t let the exterior presence fool you. Inside, the food is pretty darn good, the aesthetics not so much. Hope you enjoyed your Labour/Labor Day. What is the difference between Labour Day and Labor Day? Where U is. (I just made that up. Still working on the final punchline)

Happy Labour Day to you, friend! Cellar restaurants used to be the thing in the city where I lived, but one by one they disappeared. Hideaways with music – sound idyllic. Shall we say they provide a valid foundation for a lively downtown scene (see what I did there?)

A marvelous Laborous day right back at you! I absolutely love what you did there. I did slide two foundations in for you, but we can mutually agree on the third! That place inside reminds me of a many a college bar! Thank you! It was a real good challenge this week!
