Day 231 – August 19, 2018

Objects Over 100 Years-Old – Sunday StillsScale – One Word Photo Challenge / #MySundayPhoto / Routine – #OneWordSunday / Kowtow – FOWC / Zealous – WODC / Reticent – RDP / Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge /  #WeekendinBlackandWhite

There are so many places that have these historical markers scattered all over the area.  They can be easily found by following one of the many Civil War trails that are well mapped out and plenty in number. And living here, I cannot tell you the number of times that I have stumbled upon one without even realizing it. It is almost routine.  While the info board may not be over 100 years old, there is no doubt that the landmarks described as well at the points of interests surpass that age.  In fact, if you look at the bottom right of the photo you may recognize the covered bridge mentioned in the photo as it is the same bridge I pictured here and here.  As you start to really piece things together, you realize how massive the scale of the battle actually was.   I am in no way overzealous to kowtow to be reticent of the facts and events I do know of what happened both locally and overall, but I do respect it more and am eager to learn what I can because what I discover leaves me in complete awe and eager to learn more.  By the way, I do find it somewhat odd that in the middle of this majestic view are a couple of plastic chairs around a makeshift fire pit.  Just tossing that out there! Hope all had a great weekend and that the week brings you much joy!

      1. It’s a book of compiled letters and other missives (diaries, journals) that trace the Civil War through the words and letters of people living through it. I found it somewhat difficult to keep up with as far as timeline of events, but when I took it peace-mil it was a fascinating glimpse into the life and times.
