Day 183 – July 2, 2018

Conniption – WODC / Judgement – FOWC / Keen – RDP / Fun – JulyPAD / Diagonal Lines – CFFC

So it may be two days early, however the borough is preparing for the communities 4th of July celebration.  This is the 18th year that this event has taken place, and as this is my 18th year living here, I have watched this event grow from a 2 hour event to this years 8 hours.  The first year there were a couple of vendors and a couple of inflatable bounce things.  The first couple of years you would come out in the afternoon from 2 – 4 pm, leave as the kids started throwing conniption fits because of the heat.  Then head back around 8:30 to watch the fireworks shoot off from the top of Liberty Mountain.  It is not like that anymore.  I wasn’t really too keen on the first couple of years festivities, but wanted to support the community and attempt to have fun with the kids when they were at an age where they wouldn’t pass judgement on the lack of activities. But after the 10th year or so, it really caught on and now is a road closing event.  The food and craft  vendors have tripled in number, kids activities and games are abundant, there is live entertainment from the start of the day to the start of the fireworks, a car show, a fishing derby, and fire trucks!  Not to mention horseshoes, corn hole, 3v3 basketball, and homer hitting competitions.  And since it’s suppose to be, probably hot, combined with a large number of people and I will probably sit this one out.  Besides, I can see the fireworks from the house. **believe**
