Day 173 – June 22, 2018
I am not sure how many out there are football/soccer fans. I grew up playing the sport. It was one thing that I felt that I was pretty good at. I played all through my 20’s. When I started teaching, I was asked if I might be interested in coaching. I already was in charge of directing the shows at the school so naturally I said yes. I ended up coaching 8 years. The last two as head coach of our state champion girls varsity team. I loved it. I still do and every four years I am reminded how much. I have been really glued to this years tournament. I have enjoyed the matches quite a bit, especially since it really feels that the field is quite balanced. With today being a pretty gray, chilly, rainy day, I didn’t feel so bad wasting away on the couch for 8 hours. But then for just a few fleeting moments, the clouds cleared and the temps warmed up. I grabbed my glasses (sun and beverage) and headed outside. The humidity kicked up a notch and that salty perspiration began to trickle from just about everywhere. Now, I may not be the most cerebral of people, but I do know when there just isn’t going to be any time to start something I will not be able to finish. Especially when the third match of the day is about to start. As a result, not much, if anything, actually got done. So in the few remaining seconds of the suns all to brief appearance, I sat down and enjoyed my beverage (sheltered by a roof of its own). Looking at the phrase on my tumbler (that comes from a show where the lead character hails from across the pond) I couldn’t agree more.
