Day 172 – June 21, 2018

Roof – June Month of Squares / Sunshine – June Photo a Day / Prepostorous – FOWC

I haven’t done a sky shot in a while, but that is probably because there really hasn’t been anything that caught my eye.  Until tonight.  I was outside doing some yard work.  It was sunny and had begun to heat up.  I didn’t even see it sneak up.  At first I thought it was just a passing cloud, casting the dark shadow and providing a brief respite from the heat.  And then, after a minute or two, I noticed that the sun hadn’t returned.  I turned to look to see what the culprit was, and all of a sudden realized that there is a good chance that I am not going to see the sun again today. I was finally going to get yard work done, as it has been raining almost every day for the past few days. I now have to wait one, possibly two, more days until the ground is dry again.  It’s preposterous I tell you. The thing that  I really like about this photo is that dark wisp that is in the upper left of the photo. There was a sky phenomenon, that was kind of strange, a couple of days ago. A lot of people had seen it and posted photos on social media.  One of my favorite meteorologists, who has a website that not only forecasts the weather but also educates on why things happen in great detail, revealed that it is just a shadow from a tall cumulus at sunset.  You can see photos of the event that happened a couple of days ago and the explanation on his website here.  The irony of this was that even though the sky looked so ominous, it was pretty much all bark, no bite.  It cleared out no more than an hour later.
