Day 162 – June 11, 2018
Today’s rehearsal was at the performance location. This is the first time I have performed in this space and, quite frankly, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s a very small intimate space but it is very open. In fact, there is no roof. So hopefully we won’t be dodging rain drops on Thursday. In any case, I am pretty sure I will be using other features of this space as the subject for a couple of posts this week. Today’s photo is a sculpture of, judging by the state they are in, what I believe to be Black Eyed Susan. Black Eyed Susans happen to be Maryland’s state flower. In any case, this sculpture, created by a young lady who attended the school where I teach, has some really unique features. I look at it and see tracks of a spiraling roller coaster. If you look carefully, up against the back wall, there are 3 windows. The tracks go through the windows and around the back, and back out. Right below the two on the left is an arched opening where the tracks run down and around. It has to be one of the coolest displays I’ve seen. I just wished I’d seen it when the flowers were all in bloom.
