Day 138 – May 18, 2018
Premature – DWP
For those non-arborists out there (me included) this is a Cherry Tree. You can usually tell, right away that it is, this time of the year. Every year, like clock work between late April – Mid May, this tree would be covered in white blossoms, its signature feature. However, the weather, this year, has been very unpredictable. And just as so many of us did, started celebrating a little too early, basking in the glow of the warm sun only to realize it was all a bit premature. A few weeks ago, we felt that spring was passed right by and summer was here with 80 – 90 degree temps. Those feelings were abruptly interrupted, as the temps dropped 40 degrees in a 2 hour span and we were sitting in the 50 degree range. Fast Forward a week and we were right back in the throws of late spring, early summer temps. Only to have those fantasies thwarted again for 50 – 60 degree days and, to make matters worse, 4 days of straight rain, with at least the next two days full of precipitation. So I am not making plans to put away those cold weather coats or take out the shorts on a permanent basis. Well, not again.
