Day 131 – May 11, 2018
Forest – DWP
It’s pretty cool that Gettysburg, the site of the bloodiest battle during the civil war and Lincoln’s famous address, is only about 15 minutes away from me. I frequently drive through it and come across many historical sites. Driving around the battlefield today provided me with spectacular views of the battle grounds and the surrounding forest of trees. It is no secret why hundreds of thousands visit Gettysburg every year. Besides the history, the sites, and any number of activities, Gettysburg is beautiful. We are also surrounded by a number of forests. I happen to live in the Michaux and Buchanan state forests. I am also surrounded by the William Penn, Weiser, Tuscarora . The Appalachian Trail Cuts right through Buchanan, which is a mere 5 miles from home, along with more trails than I want to count. Including the one in the photo, which is one that cuts through the battlefield. Having this all within a stones throw is one of the reasons I haven’t had any desire to leave. All I need now is the ocean or other large body of water. Have a Great weekend!
