Day 127 – May 7, 2018

Flaunt – DWP

Why is it that when good, decent people ascend to a position of power, they feel it necessary to flaunt it?  It really baffles me when someone you have worked with, who was humble, supportive, trustworthy and dependable slides a tie around their neck and all of a sudden loses all sense of where they came from.  The bold, arrogant demeanor wipes away all sense of humanity.  It is almost a Dr. Jeckyl, Mr Hyde thing except once they are Mr. Hyde there is no turning back. Respect for the “field” worker is lost and that superior, high and mighty, demeanor is unleashed. It literally turns my stomach to see that happen, and unfortunately it happens way to often.  The sad thing is that it isn’t usually their goal from the start to get there.  The why they want to go there, is even more sad. It has been observed that they want to “change” the system.  They “know” exactly what is wrong and how they can fix it.  Yet no matter what their intention may be, it is swallowed up by that, well deserved, feeling of power that they have climbed their way to and now they are entitled to it, and your soul be damned if you try to reason with them.  No, I am not talking about the Prez, in fact, I am not a fan of politics and will never play them. These are common employees, in every day businesses.  They are the ones who become paranoid and think that it is all about them.  They are the ones who compound problems instead of reasonably working with anyone to solve them.  They are the ones who make you wonder why in the world you ever got into working at said location. You see that change in them, mourn their loss, and hope they flaunt that power somewhere else. So what does the photo have to do with Facade.  Nothing really (well not intentionally) except that I needed a drink after writing this post!
