Day 98 – April 8, 2018
So yesterday the prompt was a pretty foreign word, and after defining, it took a little creativity in order to capture the prompt. Thinking about today’s prompt makes me wonder if it was chosen to describe the dailypost’s motive: to thwart us from completing the challenge. But I couldn’t capture that as a photo, well I could have but no-one would find that photo appropriate, after all this is a “family” blog. So wanted to get one more “reminder” of the weekend, and also cover Cee’s black and white challenge, which is Cars, Trucks, and Motorcycles. Now I know this is not any one of those, BUT it falls in the same category and since everyone knows what Amtrak is associated with (if not, I apologize, just click on the word link) so, assumingly, that falls in that transportation (with wheels) category, and technically trains do have wheels, so I figured “bam” mission accomplished. The security at the train station (this happens to be the one we started and ended the trip at) is a little more relaxed, although they don’t want passengers just moseying around the platforms. They thwart any attempt by using the stanchion. And it is remarkable, when you think about it how one, relatively small in diameter, “rope” can thwart a lot of attempts at “illegal” or “seriously frowned upon” trespasses through, do not enter until it’s time, areas. Think about it. Airlines, movies, amusement park rides and many more use this rope, and people respect it. Thinking of it as some kind of electric fence. Maybe it’s the velour covering, who knows? Until next time, may your heart smile! Thwart

Beautifully stated. I think the stanchion works because people basically conform to authority, and thwart velvet rope has authority written all over it. Just watch when a kid tries to move one, and see adults nearly have heart attacks.

I know! I just find it fascinating. We put up fences, walls, padlocks, doors etc that frequently don’t work. Yet a 2 inch rope, hanging a mere 3′ off the ground, spanning 6 – 10′, can stop large groups in their tracks. It is just crazy.
