Banded Together

Day 55 – February 24, 2018

One of the reasons I have stayed in the school I have for so long is the wide variety of events that I get to see/work.  The largest theatre in our county and beyond doesn’t come without it’s drawbacks.  Many people believe they need to host their events here as it is not only the largest venue but it is in a central location, right off the hi way and, for the size, extremely affordable.  So we have a number of events that are pretty obvious that they would have been better of at a ‘smaller” venue.

But back to where I was going at the beginning.  So there are a number of events, that for me, are worth “the hassle.”  While I would question the decision to use this venue for this event, I am rather glad to have been able to see the bands that played in front of a meek audience.  Knowing they weren’t playing in front of the crowds they are probably used to, none of these artists held back.  The five bands that came out tonight all came with the same cause, to help send water to those countries desperately in need of clean drinking water.  Despite the number in attendance, they drove through their sets with the passion and desire that one needs in order to be successful.  Each band brought a different style and sound so no two sets were ever alike.  Aside from getting to design rock concert lighting (of which does not happen often at all) I got what I felt was a very personal, intimate experience that will definitely stay with me for quite some time.  Happy Saturday!  And, Happy 20th Birthday Noah! Wish you were home to celebrate.
