Too Much Time On My Hands

Clocking Out

It really is amazing how much we depend on time.  And how time really does rule our lives.  I do an exercise in class where I ask the students to go home and count the number of things that tell the time in their house.  And then I have them break it down room by room, and I ask them which room has the most time tellers.  I am always floored by the answers, and I don’t know why because my house is saturated.  But then, you look around and see time everywhere. On marquees, billboards, facades, in the car.  Or like this, on a tower above a grocery store.  Although very beautiful, especially with the vibrant blue sky, it is still an indicator of life’s clock, just ticking away.  That is the one thing I hate about going back to school, that my life now becomes dependent on the clock.  Living hour by hour, bell by bell.  When is summer vacation? 🙂 August 22, 2012
