Weekly Photo Challenge: Close

While this was an easy topic to come up with for ideas, it was not easy to take advantage of those ideas.  Kind of like the theme, I was close to what I wanted, but never close enough.  It’s very ironic because this picture can represent so many things and serve as an analogy to so many situations.  I think about how life can allow you to get comfortable in the box and after you’ve dug in and got your feet firmly planted, life throws you that curveball in which you have to abandon everything you just worked toward. But instead of allowing that ball to hit you, and really mess you up, you quickly dodge it and recognize it for what it was, get back into that box and wait for the next one, while staring it in the face.  It’s amazing how close life comes to imitating a game, or art or anything that brings a new perspective to what you find worthwhile and meaningful.

My daughter played in her final game of the season today.  It was an all-star game and this is an honor I do hope she carries close to her heart, or at least in her memories.  She is a very humble competitor, and I often have to remind her that she is playing up a whole division, and for her to be what she is doing is a remarkable achievement.  I am posting a second shot as well.  Because it was actually my favorite shot of the day, but it didn’t hit the topic as well as this one did.  I hope you like it as well.
